A Birthday Letter To Oren
Each year on my children's birthdays I write them a letter. I'm saving them all to put in a book for their 18th birthdays.
Today our second child Oren turns 7. This is such an amazing age to be and I'm so excited for him. He's so ready for 7 and all the adventures, learning and creating that he's going to do over the coming year.
To my precious Oren,
Wow! You are 7! What a most brilliant age to be. I am so excited for you and the year ahead.
You really do amaze me every single day. You are so smart it blows my mind. And I think it blows your mind on a regular basis too! Not because you have any idea how clever you are but because you spend a lot of time having big thoughts. You also spend a huge amount of time reading books. I love books so much too, so I can't tell you how happy it makes me to find you literally buried beneath a huge pile of them every night. And if a book is in your path as you go around the house you will stop and read it. Just brilliant!
This past year you have really started to understand other people. You care so much about me and how I'm feeling that it actually makes me cry! Not sad tears you understand. Just proud, happy ones. Please keep caring about me, Daddy and your brother and sisters in this beautiful way. We all love you so much and knowing that you want us all to be happy is a special thing.
This wonderful understanding also means that you now have a lovely relationship with Max because you realise that he's only 4 (well very nearly 5!) and you are very patiently teaching him so many things. He looks up to you so much and of course so does little Rudi.
And then there's that super cool relationship you have with Imogen. You two! What a team. We love it so much when you sneak downstairs after the little two have gone to bed and just hang out with us. Pottering about, playing Minecraft together, watching videos, talking to us. It's a very special time and as much as I'm looking forward to the little two being bigger, I'm really not ready for this time to end for a good while yet.
I love it when you tell me about things I don't know about. How brilliant is that? You are only just 7 and I have a strong feeling you're going to be doing this for the rest of my life. Please do! It's great to share knowledge and have great conversations.
Oh sweet Oren hold onto being young, enjoy every moment of being 7 and do not rush to grow-up just yet.
Here's to a wonderful year ahead!
Lots and lots of love and hugs
from Mummy xxo
PS You are still very attached to monkey. He sends his birthday love too! xo
